“Coming Home: The Dry Storm” Screens at Congressional Black Caucus Conference
Members of the Campaign to Restore National Housing Rights (CRNHR) attended the Congressional Black Caucus Conference on Thursday and Friday, September 16 – 17. The CRNHR was in attendance to screen and speak about Coming Home: The Dry Storm, a documentary about the human right to housing crisis in New Orleans. CRNHR members voiced deep concerns about the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s legislative proposal Preservation, Enhancement, and Transformation of Rental Assistance Act (PETRA). PETRA threatens the long-term housing security of public housing residents, while also potentially placing the public ownership of this vital resource into private hands, transforming public housing into a real estate commodity.
