Earlier this month, NESRI partner the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) and their allies up and down the East Coast organized and took part in the "Do The Right Thing" East Coast Tour, February 27th – March 5th, which featured a large national action targeting Stop & Shop (owned by Dutch supermarket giant Ahold) in Boston — which was a huge success with over a thousand marchers trudging through the snowy city — and another against Publix in Tampa, Florida, which also turned out the crowds and featured street theatre involving huge, colorful puppets.  For photos and news coverage of these actions, and the tour stops in between, click here

One stop on the tour was right here in NYC at the Upper West Side Trader Joe’s.  To view a video of that action and for more information about upcoming local actions against Trader Joe’s, visit Community Farmworker Alliance.  The Community Farmworker Alliance is a local CIW support organization in New York City that will be increasing the pressure on Trader Joe’s during the month of April, with a series of "Sample Justice" actions at local Trader Joe’s stores.  Watch for the schedule of these actions here.  What’s a "Sample Justice" action?  Check out the video:
