J.R. Fleming of Chicago Anti-Eviction Campaign featured in New Film “Through the Cracks”
Check out the Campaign to Restore National Housing Rights Steering Committee member, J.R. Fleming of the Chicago Anti-Eviction Campaign, featured in a new short documentary film, Through the Cracks. In the film, Mr. Fleming discusses the Chicago Housing Authority’s Plan for Transformation, or perhaps "Plan for Devastation," due to the Plan’s displacement of large numbers of low-income communities through the demolition of 51 high rise public housing buildings and the resulting loss of permanent affordable units. It is this "Plan for Devastation" that is being replicated in city’s across the country and in federal proposals like the Obama Administration’s Transforming Rental Assistance initiative (and the legislative iterations: PETRA and RHRA).
