We Stand with the People of Ferguson because Black Lives Matter

112514

Tonight we heard from the criminal justice system in Ferguson that Black lives don’t matter. We have heard it before in the many killings with impunity.  We have heard it in the high rates of incarceration. We hear it in the echoes of stop and frisk, the school to prison pipeline and the ruthless exclusion from decent jobs – and even the basic right to vote — of those who have been unjustly criminalized. Like many social justice and human rights organizations, we join the call for the U.S. Department of Justice to take action in the absence of an indictment. Additionally, tonight those organizing in Ferguson have asked us to stand up in response. There will be 48 hours of protest across the country to call for change and for a country where Black lives always matter.  For information please visit Fergusonaction.com
