Co-Governance and Participatory Democracy in Action Across the Country
CO-GOVERNANCE WITH PUBLIC AGENCIES is one of a number of strategies community and worker-led organizations across the country are exploring to build the power needed in policy-making and governance to realize a multiracial political and economic democracy. Co-governance is a collection of participatory models and practices in which government and communities work together through formal and informal structures to make collective policy decisions, co-create programs to meet community needs, and make sure those policies and programs are implemented effectively. This map offers organizers and governments a range of examples of community governance structures.
