Deadly Delivery: Amnesty International on Maternal Health in the United States
More than two women die every day in the USA from complications of pregnancy and childbirth. Approximately half of these deaths could be prevented if maternal health care were available, accessible, and of good quality for all women in the USA. A safe pregnancy is a human right for every woman regardless of race or income. With this report, Amnesty International documents the denial of the human right to health to women in the United States.
UPDATE: In Spring 2011, Amnesty International released a one-year update report to Deadly Delivery, which includes new data and information on legislative initiatives.
