The United Workers was founded in 2002 by homeless day laborers in an abandoned firehouse turned shelter. We met at the shelter to talk about the root causes of poverty and to develop our leadership skills. Out of this process the first human rights accountability campaign was developed and launched. This video includes footage from the shelter, an early meeting and the first protest of the Living Wages at Camden Yards campaign.
