Anja Rudiger served on Partner for Dignity and Rights’ staff team from 2007 to the end of 2015. In her most recent role as Director of Programs, she led the development of economic and social rights initiatives and analyses for Partner for Dignity and Rights, its partners and the broader field, after working with staff to strategically reorganize Partner for Dignity and Rights’ programs, campaigns and projects. Anja also developed and led Partner for Dignity and Rights’ Human Right to Health Program, which partnered with Vermont’s Healthcare Is a Human Right Campaign to win the country’s first law for a universal, publicly financed health care system. Anja currently works as an independent researcher, based in New Mexico, with forthcoming publications on rights-based tax policy, movement building and radical democracy. She has extensive experience in developing and evaluating right s-based approaches to policymaking at local, national, and international levels. In addition to various consultancy assignments, her previous roles include leading the research department at the British Refugee Council, the UK Secretariat of the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia, and a gender & development consulting service, all based in London, UK. Anja has a range of academic and policy publications (including chapters in Rights-Based Approaches to Public Health, eds. Beracochea et al.; and in Where Do We Go From Here? American Democracy and the Renewal of the Radical Imagination, ed. Major) and holds a Ph.D. in Political Theory from the University of Kiel in Germany.
